FAC's Favourite Lunch Spots
Mar 23, 2017
Here at Free Agency, we take our lunches very seriously. Luckily, we happen to work in one of the most lunch-friendly neighbourhoods in Vancouver. Here’s a few of our favourite spots lately:
1. CARTEMS DONUTERIE
Starting off this list with a spot that isn’t really a lunch spot (although they do serve lunch, but I haven’t tried it and can’t speak to it). Cartems is a great place to go for a little sugar break, or to pick up a dozen donuts for an office celebration. They have a variety of vegan and gluten free donuts every day, which really helps when buying for an office with a lot of allergies. Their flavours are always exciting; last week I tried an apple pie stuffie donut that basically changed my life.
2. MEAT & BREAD
The name sounds simple, but these sandwiches are anything but boring. The porchetta will blow your mind.
3. PRADO CAFE
It’s been open for less than a week and it’s already on our favourites list. Prado is quickly becoming our favourite coffee spot in the neighbourhood, partially because it’s just so darn close to the office, but also because it has a great atmosphere and, of course, great coffee.
4. SAVE ON MEATS
A Vancouver classic, Save On is a great place to go for an easy, affordable lunch. Their build-your-own-burger is unbeatable, and their signs painted by Dan Climon are really cool.
5. LOST + FOUND CAFE
Great for a simple sandwich-and-soup/salad combo or an incredible breakfast bun (stuffed with scrambled eggs!), Lost + Found is always a delicious and convenient choice for lunch or coffee break.
6. EAST VAN ROASTERS
This cute little shop roasts their own coffee and cocoa beans, which is basically the best of both worlds. Great for a little chocolate pick-me-up or a hot chocolate to warm you up in the winter. Their salted chocolate chip cookies are mouthwatering.
7. TACOFINO COMMISSARY
Another new addition to the neighbourhood, Tacofino’s first storefront location offers incredible tacos and burritos (not to mention beautiful floor tiles) on their burrito bar side, and a full menu and sit-down restaurant on the other side. The burritos are monstrous, so plan on a light dinner that night.
If you’ve got a bit of time to sit down and hang out, Bestie is a great choice for lunch. They offer incredible currywurst or bratwurst with sauerkraut, plus really affordable beers. Plus everyone there is super cool.
9. PAZZO CHOW
A favourite throughout the office, Pazzo Chow has been around for almost a year and has become a staple in our diets. This little Italian restaurant and market has three lunch options every day, which they post on their Instagram feed in the morning. If something tickles your fancy, it’s just a quick walk past Andy Livingstone Park to pick it up. Beware rosemary focaccia with nutella…. it’s addictive.
10. HARVEST COMMUNITY FOODS
A little bit of a further walk but definitely worth it, Harvest is another restaurant/market that offers great lunch. Their ramen with pork shoulder is literally melt-in-your-mouth good.
